Grape Stomp Competition
1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and at 4 pm the Grand Stomp Off

You're invited to sponsor a Grape Stomp team at the 7th Annual South Shore Dockside Food and Wine Festival on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Marina. This year's Stomp is bigger and better than ever before - more teams, more prizes, more grapes and best of all, more fun!

Grape Stomp Competition Official Rules

Rule #1
Contestants must be at least 21 years of age and in good health.

Rule #2
The Grape Stomp team entry fee of $100 is payable to the South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival. Entry fees are sponsored by businesses or organizations in the community. A sign will be provided and displayed with the team sponsor's name.

Rule #3
A team will consist of two members, one to stomp and one to catch the grape juice. A contestant can only compete as a member of one team.

Rule #4
There will be one heat in each of two Grape Stomp rounds, consisting of three stomping teams per heat. The team with the most grape juice collected for that round will advance to the Grape Stomp Off at 4:00 p.m. All Stompers will receive an official Festival T-Shirt. Prizes will be awarded for the winners of each heat and for the Grand Stomp Off.

Rule #5
Each team will crush approximately 20 pounds of grapes for a period of two minutes, competing for the most juice collected in the alloted time. Stomping will stop when the judge blows the whistle. The decisions of the judges are final.

Rule #6
Stompers must stomp grapes from an upright barefoot position. Hands may not be placed on or in the barrel. Helpers must keep the screen clean and direct the grape juice into the container.

Rule #7
All equipment is provided by our sponsors. No additional equipment is permitted during the competition.
